The Beauty of Character

The beauty of character
I have always wondered what it is that differentiates people. Is it style, values or....what? Well, I think different factors/attributes make people different in several ways but have you ever given the factor, Character a thought? If you haven't ,take a ride with me.
I decided to get a dictionary meaning first and it says:

1. mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual.

2. The combination of qualities or features that distinguishes one person, group, or thing from another.

Character  is the summation of all the good qualities you can think of but I will add mine Character includes honesty, faithfulness, discipline, diligence, love, integrity . It is the sum of ones disposition, thoughts, intentions, desires, and actions. A persons character is developed and influenced by the choice(s) he / she makes
No matter how educated or influential a man is,character is what sustains and distinguishes him. Most times, people rise easily to the peak and crash because they lack a combination of traits that produce good character.
Character determines the decisions you take even when no one is watching,it determines the things you place high value on,it determines how you build your home or organization .
Character is what helps you accommodate and tolerate the people around you.
Character is what helps you say NO to forces and advances or advises that can stain you.
Character is not only necessary for marriage ,it is important for all kinds of relationships. The beauty of character emanates from the inside, impacts and spread love to people around.
Building and developing ones character requires patience
Here are some notable quotes on character:
"Character isn't something you were born with and can't change like your fingerprints,it is something you weren't born with and must take responsibility for forming"- Jim Rohn

"When wealth is lost, nothing is lost. When health is lost, something is lost. When character is lost, all is lost" - Billy Graham

“Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habit. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.”- unknown.

Suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope (Romans 5:3-4).

What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don't they come from your desires that battle within you? You want something but don't get it. You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want. You quarrel and fight. James 4 vs 1-2

"Character isn't something you were born with and can't change like your fingerprints,it is something you weren't born with and take responsibility for forming?"- Jim Rohn

Happy Boxing Day

Christmas Day was fun. I had a great time with my family. I invited my brother and sister to my new village( hubby's village). It was great fun having them around. The most stressful but interesting and fulfilling part was having to cook with firewood all by myself, thanks to hubby and sis for making it a delightful experience.I must get my Mother inlaw a new gift. Hubby was proud of me. He couldn't believe that I could do the firewood .I made a delicious fried rice with chicken. I originally planned to make something different for other members of the family thinking they would prefer something traditional but when Mother inlaw saw what I was making, she opted for the fried rice. After launch she praised my cooking and requested for another plate. For me that was g-r-e-a-t... Now, back to our discussion for the day....Boxing Day

Boxing Day is the 26 th day of December, the day following christmas. There are several theories with regards to the origin of Boxing Day but the exact origin is unknown.
It is believed to come from the early Christian Era where special offerings tied to the feast of saint Stephens were collected in metal boxes place outside the church. Some refer to it as the custom of tradesmen to collect Christmas boxes as reward for good service throughout the year. There is also a believe that it could have originated from an English tradition that allowed servants of the wealthy to visit their families the day after Christmas and their Masters would give them bonuses, gifts and sometimes left over food to take home.

In some countries, Boxing Day is known as a shopping holiday while in some, it is regarded as a Federal holiday . Boxing Day has also become associated with sports in countries like United Kingdom,Australia,New Zealand,South Africa hosting matches and contest.
Some people just believe Boxing Day is an extension of the Christmas Day.What about you?
Take out time to wrap a gift for someone today.Happy Boxing Day pals.

Celebrating Xmas
Before I started this post,I thought of different themes.I contemplated using the heading " fun ways to celebrate Xmas but I settled with this,I hope it suits and you like it.
Of all the celebrations every year, christmas is my best. I love christmas because it comes with a joyful atmosphere, you can smell happiness, joy, peace, celebration all around you. The decorations and lightnings do not just beautify the environment but it heightens your mood for celebration.
How do you celebrate Christmas?
1. Thanksgiving
This is the very first step.it is the best moment to be thankful to God that you are part of the season.Being thankful for what you have and what you have achieved will help you avoid costly mistakes this season. If you feel you don't have anything or any reasons to be thankful, learn to count your blessings and you will see there are many reasons to be thankful.
Also, learn to be thankful to your family, friends ,colleagues.Say thank you to those that have added value to your life throughout the year.
Being thankful brings good success your way.
2. Forgive
In this season, you must learn to be slow to offences and quick to forgive.learn to overlook insults and railings. When people annoy you this season, find a reason to always forgive them.My own reason is simple " if God can forgive me,I  have forgiven you"
When you learn to forgive in this season, you will have happier moments.
3. Giving
This is the best time to cultivate a habit of giving.giving changes you and makes you a better person,it makes you richer.when you give, you receive an overflow of the measure you have given.Did you just ask why or how? I used to ask that question.how can giving this  xxxxx( fill in the gap) make me a better person or even richer? I was intrigued by this quote by
Mother Theresa: 'It's not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.
It is only by giving that you can get what you want and most times, more than you already have.Give as you have purposed in your heart ,not grudgingly but be cheerful.
Merry Xmas!
